The Place to be this Saturday, April 18, 2009

from June Hoffman of Megasound

“Something Old, Something New”
Catrina for Jordan Fashions
Mother’s Gown Trunk Show

As an MC (with Megasound), I am excited to be a part of this unique event this Saturday at the Wedding Place. Brides can bring their Mother and soon-to-be Mother-in-law to celebrate wedding traditions together. The highlight of the day is a Mother’s gown trunk show by Catrina for Jordan Fashions.

Each Mother of the wedding who brings in a copy of her wedding photo to add to the Wedding Place collection will receive free flowers. Brides and their mothers will also receive great prices on the mother’s gowns, tasty treats, and special surprises.

This is a chance for Brides and their mothers to share in wedding traditions and create wonderful moments with lovely fashions, flowers, and a chance to talk about your wedding.

Hope to see you on Saturday!!

Fashion Show from a New Perspective

I got to help out my friends at the Wedding Place yesterday. I was in charge of the “tea-room” style fashion show at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club bridal event.

What does that mean for a person who is used to playing music and MC’ing a runway show? It means making sure the models arrive, get their dresses in order, show them the logistics of the room, go over the commentary and music with the DJ, and make sure they look “put together” when they hit the runway.

With the help of dressers and staff, and only one zipper malfunction, we shared lovely bridal fashions and bridesmaids attire with the brides and their guests. It certainly takes a well-balanced team to create such a beautiful presentation. It is a very thrilling to fluff Tomi’s trains as she modeled the bridal gowns. All and all it made for a new experience to add to my collection.

In the "Zone"...the 2008 Miss Torrid Pageant

"And suddenly I see..."

Months of hard work and planning came together this evening at the Chamber of Commerce. Downtown Fort Wayne was filled with contestants, supporters, and their well-wishers. History was made by the crowning of the first Indiana Miss Torrid.

All of the 17 contestants were all winners just by taking steps on that stage. It was a great privilege to work with Jama Young and her staff from Torrid as well as all of the girls. It was also great to know that so many people came out to help raise funds for Reilly Children’s Hospital.

From “Suddenly I See” to “Ever, Ever After” the night was a whirlwind of Torrid fashion, contestants, and all of the components that make a pageant a unique experience.

After all of the acts were completed and the votes tallied, everyone held their breath for the final announcements.

Miss Photogenic was contestant #5 ~ Brittany
Award for the Most Sponsors was contestant #9 ~ Amanda
Miss Congeniality was contestant #11 ~ Lovey
Audience Choice Award went to contestant #15 ~ Karen
2nd Runner up was contestant #17 ~ Katrina
1st Runner up was contestant#15 ~ Karen
The 2008 Miss Torrid Indiana was contestant #8 ~ Meagan

It was a pleasure working on this pageant. Congratulations to Meagan and all of the Miss Torrid contestants. You are all winners!!!
