Love Songs are in the Air

One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner. Valentine’s Day has so much symbolism surrounding the history and meaning. For the world of weddings and music, Valentine’s Day is about love songs. I always enjoy sharing new suggestions and some old faithful ones for wedding planning.

Wedding Central shares all types of love songs.

The following are my personal favorites from their lists:

From Wedding Central—Top 20 Classic Love Songs:

Their #2 is the “Way You Look Tonight” by Tony Bennett. This timeless classic lends itself to a feeling of elegance on the dance floor.
Their #3 is “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by the King himself - Elvis Presley. This selection portrays the idea that soul mates do find each other and two people can fall in love.
Finally is their #6 selection of “At Last” by Etta James. No matter if you are referring to a new presidency or finally tying the knot, this love song envelops a sense of transition and change.

From Wedding Central—Top 10 Popular Love Songs:
Their #5 is “Crazy in Love” by Beyonce. On my personal list this song would be number 1. Beyonce shares a huge amount of energy and zest in this “love” song.

From Wedding Central—Top 10 Extra Cheesy Love Songs:
None of the top 10 selections referenced are requested at every wedding reception. My two personal favorites are rarely requested at weddings in the Fort Wayne area.

Their #6 is “Hopelessly Devoted to You” by Olivia Newton-John. This song evokes memories watching the off-Broadway version of Grease many years ago. My thought is still to this day that the movie version was much better than the stage musical. It really goes back to love songs being featured in so many movies which makes it easier to couples to select meaningful songs for their wedding.
Their #10 is “I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher. A fun selection that couples might add to the evening to liven up their guests.

From Wedding Centrals Top 100 Love Songs of All Time:
So many of these songs are classics and wonderful choices for wedding first dances. It is difficult to limit personal favorites from such a long list. These three songs are tops in my book.

Their #1 is “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye. Marvin Gaye is the only artist who could pull off this awesome song. The lyrics themselves are truly steamy romance in the making.
Their #44 is “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. This is another hit used in movies. This ballad is truly timeless itself and just suggests love.
Their #99 is “Save the Best for Last” by Vanessa Williams. This song fits perfectly for romancing one last spin around the dance floor.

The site is full of song suggestions that will help with selecting your own personal favorites for a wedding or just a romantic weekend or evening. Let love fill the air when you enjoy Valentine’s Day with your favorite someone.
