Complete Your Bridal Look on March 6, 2010

from June Hoffman of Megasound

The Wedding Place is hosting their 12th Semi-Annual Veil and Headpiece Extravaganza this Saturday March 6th. At Megasound, I get some great opportunities to play music for other wedding related events. This is one of those types of events that I get to enjoy as much as the brides. I am spinning the tunes and MCing the event as well.

This pre-nuptial event is an excellent opportunity for brides to pick out finishing touches to their wedding look. It plans to be a wonderful time for you to check out more than just veils. The Wedding Place is featuring new, be-jeweled hair pins and gorgeous wispy feather pieces from the designers at Bella Trousseau. Fort Wayne brides will have the first look at these amazing adornments on Saturday. Bella Trousseau is only available at the Wedding Place.

Other goodies on schedule for March 6th include scrumptious wedding cake from Elegant Cakes by Carolyn and special gifts for each bride. Each registered bride also receives complimentary hair styling and makeup from Hair, Etc. Space is limited, so to reserve your spot, call 260-482-1250 today.

The “Veil and Headpiece Extravaganza” will be held at the Wedding Place which is located at 4618 Speedway Drive in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Reservations are required as the event runs from 10am-4pm this Saturday, March 6, 2010. Hope to see you there!!

Music Mix Ready for Upcoming Fashion Show

From Erik Michaels of Megasound

I recently had the pleasure of producing the music that will be featured at the upcoming 45th Anniversary Fashion Show at The Wedding Place (on Saturday, September 12, 2009).

“Beatmixing” music isn't difficult when there are extended “intros” and “outros” on the songs to work with although radio edits of songs are much more tricky. Mixing "on the fly" without having listened to the songs first can sometimes also create unintended results. As any DJ can tell you, there are always times where one says to himself or herself, "Wow! Alright, THAT didn't sound good!"

Unlike those unpleasant moments where a mix sounds more like a “train wreck” than a nice segue, my experience producing next weekend's fashion show music was quite positive and rewarding indeed.

I hope everyone enjoys the fashion show and music that will be featured next weekend!

from June Hoffman of Megasound

“Something Old, Something New”
Catrina for Jordan Fashions
Mother’s Gown Trunk Show

As an MC (with Megasound), I am excited to be a part of this unique event this Saturday at the Wedding Place. Brides can bring their Mother and soon-to-be Mother-in-law to celebrate wedding traditions together. The highlight of the day is a Mother’s gown trunk show by Catrina for Jordan Fashions.

Each Mother of the wedding who brings in a copy of her wedding photo to add to the Wedding Place collection will receive free flowers. Brides and their mothers will also receive great prices on the mother’s gowns, tasty treats, and special surprises.

This is a chance for Brides and their mothers to share in wedding traditions and create wonderful moments with lovely fashions, flowers, and a chance to talk about your wedding.

Hope to see you on Saturday!!

Red Carpet and All

I spent my Saturday surrounded by two of my favorite things: Christmas music and brides planning their weddings. I had the honor of being the MC/DJ and all-around good hostess during the Wedding Place's 9th semi-annual View and Headpiece Extravaganza. The rooms were filled with Christmas music from all genres (tropical, classic, salsa, and contemporary). With Megasound, we have so many different options for music that it was very interesting to play only one type of music for the whole day. Now of course, I did explain to a few moms that we do play a wide variety of music at wedding ceremonies and receptions (normally what the bride and groom ask for their wedding).

The rooms were also filled with brides in various stages of their wedding planning. Many had already ordered their dress and were ready to accessorize their wedding ensemble with a beautiful veil, headpiece, and jewelry. So many options were available as the Wedding Place had gotten in many “never-before-seen” veils specifically for the event.

Some brides arrived alone and many were joined by their entourage (MOB, MOG, BM, and more). In addition to all of my instruction on what they needed to do, the brides were treated to sweets from Don Hall’s Takes the Cake. They also received a complimentary hair up-do and mini-makeover by Angela and her staff from Bellus Hair Design.

When the girls finished picking out their accessories, they had photo questions answered by Brooke of Ashley Beige Photography. I saw a few tears as brides and their moms watched previous brides' videos and checked out photos. One of the most colorful parts of the day for all was the beautiful flowers on display from One of a Kind Events. Many brides took the opportunity to check out the hottest floral trends and colors and talk with Linda about their wedding plans.

All and all, it was a very full day. The unique layout for the event transformed the Wedding Place into a palace of bling and beauty…red carpet and all.

It's War...No "Bride Wars"!!

“Bride Wars” is coming to the big screen. I am so excited on the upcoming movie with Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.

To make things even more exiting in Fort Wayne, we (Megasound, The Wedding Place, One of a Kind Events, and many others) are hosting a premiere party on January 9, 2009 for the opening night. Details are being worked out and as soon as they are finalized I will share. Check out the website to see the trailer for “Bride Wars” as it proves to be a riot of a movie.

Having Fun with Veils

I am very excited to spend tomorrow at the Wedding Place for the 9th Semi-Annual Veil and Headpiece Extravaganza. I got a sneak peak of some of the unique designs available and I will say that there will a lot of headpieces and veils for brides. The veils are brand new almost all are available to buy on the spot at great prices.

I can’t wait to see all of the girls getting their hair and makeup done (for free) before trying on all of the lovely accessories! Halls Takes the Cake is providing sweet treats for all in attendance. The Wedding Place will also look divine with all the fresh flowers from One of a Kind Events and designer, Linda Maggert, will be on hand for any questions. My favorite part is that I will be there providing holiday tunes as well as handling logistics for the event. I will also be able to answer any questions about your ceremony and reception questions.

Tickets are $5 per person and if you have already purchased your wedding gown from The Wedding Place, you get 2 tickets FREE! Either way, you must have an appointment for this fun event! Just call The Wedding Place 260-482-1250 to get on the schedule! I hope to see you there.

Fashion Show from a New Perspective

I got to help out my friends at the Wedding Place yesterday. I was in charge of the “tea-room” style fashion show at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club bridal event.

What does that mean for a person who is used to playing music and MC’ing a runway show? It means making sure the models arrive, get their dresses in order, show them the logistics of the room, go over the commentary and music with the DJ, and make sure they look “put together” when they hit the runway.

With the help of dressers and staff, and only one zipper malfunction, we shared lovely bridal fashions and bridesmaids attire with the brides and their guests. It certainly takes a well-balanced team to create such a beautiful presentation. It is a very thrilling to fluff Tomi’s trains as she modeled the bridal gowns. All and all it made for a new experience to add to my collection.
